The spectacular visuals that wowed both locals and visitors have set Singapore as one of the leading countries in deploying impressive state-of-the-art visual technology.
Against the backdrop of one of the most promising sectors with endless potential for a variety of industries that range from retail to hospitality, education, government, and banking, the first edition of Visual Asia Expo (VAX) 2015 will be taking place from 5 to 7 November 2015. Held at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre, the exhibition is open to trade visitors on 5-6 November and opens to the public on 7 November.
The inaugural event was officially opened this morning by Guest-of-honour, Mr Tai Lee Siang, President of the Design Business Chamber Singapore (DBCS). Set to be Asia’s definitive trade show for the visual communication industry, VAX seeks to take advantage of Asia’s booming visual communication industry by shining the spotlight on the best and latest in design and product solutions, market innovations, and emerging technologies in visual communications.
VAX is also the first professional trade show in Singapore and Asia to showcase the full spectrum of visual communication solutions that range from visual effects and technology, imaging, lighting, production solutions and many more. 80 local and international companies from ten countries will be exhibiting at the event, which is expected to draw some 7,000 visitors over three days.
Not just a tech show, VAX has also lined up a two-day expert forum to offer a multifaceted perspective of the trends, challenges and opportunities to help businesses create powerful shared visual experiences for maximum impact.

Featuring innovative solutions and trends in visual communications
Visitors will be in for a tech feast as over 80 local and international companies from countries such as Canada, Taiwan and Germany will showcase the latest cutting-edge products and technologies in visual communications.
This includes Fiber Lab, a Canadian firm that specialises in the unique technique of paper engineering, which promises a delightful and immersive experience for visitors through its lighting installations within their origami enclosures. Evonik from Germany, will also be presenting their innovative PLEXIGLAS truLED® technology that plays with light, shapes and colours to relay to its audience imaginative and experiential designs.
Other than the delivery of a dynamic and interactive experience, there are also a wide range of state-of-the-art digital solutions that delivers high speed and high productivity. Exhibitors will be bringing in technologies that seek to enhance the visual experience, such as Konica Minolta who will be showcasing their advanced printing technology that produces simulated 3D effects to breathe life into illustrations. On top of that, USC Solutions is also presenting the world’s fastest large-format monochrome and colour printer by HP, which allows up to 50% savings in production costs.
VAX 2015 has brought together Singapore’s local companies with international players, as seen in the teaming up of Singapore’s 3 Square Media Solutions with China’s Leyard that specialises in LED display solutions. Exhibitors and visitors alike will also have the chance to network and interact with prominent industry players such as Light10 Industries, a leading LED technology pioneer in Singapore that delivers multi-sensory immersive architectural designs and creative engineering. From image projections to light sculpturing and experiential branding, Light10 Industries holds iconic projects such as Singapore Sports Hub, Sentosa Boardwalk, Resort World Sentosa, and Universal Studio Singapore proudly under its belts.
Lining up leading industry practitioners for three-day Expert Forum
More than a trade exhibition, VAX 2015 has lined up a three-day expert forum that assembles a panel of eight leading industry players from various sectors of the visual communication industry. Themed “Transforming Ideas into Creative Expressions”, there will be discussing of new ideas and possibilities for experiential environments that push creativity boundaries, and sharing of insights on the current trends and latest developments in the ever-evolving media landscape.
Vincent Leclerc, the Creative Technology Officer of PixMob, which has wowed audiences with their spectacular use of LED technology for international shows and concerts by artistes such as Taylor Swift and Coldplay, will be at VAX 2015 to discuss the challenges and opportunities of designing new technologies to enhance large crowd experiences at events. He will also showcase the latest technologies developed by PixMob. Other professionals on the panel include Ken Wheatley from Christie Digital and Sebastian Tan from Shooting Gallery Singapore, who will touch on how they transform their ideas into creative expressions in their respective playing fields. They will also be sharing personal insights on building a strong business foundation and expansion into regional markets which local entrepreneurs and industry practitioners will find valuable.
See it, Scan it, Experience it with Visual Asia Expo App
To enhance the experience for both visitors and exhibitors, Space Arena, the organiser of VAX, has partnered Singapore IT startup Xhoppe to develop the official mobile app for the event. Designed to provide a game-changing interactive experience for participants, the Visual Asia Expo App (“VAX App”) marks a first for an exhibition in Asia with its pioneering use of visual recognition technology to deliver a seamless and immersive user experience. Consumers who download the VAX App will have their first opportunity to engage with added virtual content from the various exhibits at the Expo in real time.
Marking Singapore’s 50th Birthday with Commemorative SG50 Photo Wall
For the first time, the top 50 professional photographers in Singapore will showcase their personal and impassioned works in a joint exhibition at VAX 2015. The SG50 Photo Wall, in commemoration of Singapore’s Jubilee Year, is an impressive 50 metre-wide panel that features some of the most distinctive works by prominent Singaporean photographers such as Singapore-born Hollywood celebrity photographer Russell Wong, award winning photographer Willy Foo, and President of the Professional Photographers Association Singapore (PPAS) Ryan Wong.
Curated by PPAS, the images celebrate the Singapore spirit through their lenses; and visitors can expect a brilliant display of 50 breathtaking impressions of Singapore’s iconic skylines and buildings, flora and fauna, as well as famous local personalities and ordinary folks.
Leveraging on VAX 2015’s appeal as Asia’s definitive visual communication show, photography enthusiasts can also look forward to connecting with fellow photographers and potential buyers from overseas during the three-day exhibition.
